New Camera-Thought I would Test

I recently bought a Nikon D70S. It's the forst SLR I've owned and I'm pretty new to the photography thing (other than the standard point-shoot-pray that I normally have done). I used an 50-200mm lens to take the photo, tripod from about 4 feet away from my tank. I have a 4x54 T5 setup so I had to play with the settings to try to get a decent picture. Any thoughts/tips or critique's?

Looks pretty wonderful. The only advice I can give you is to get to know your camera...play with it until you know every button and it's function. You'll eventually be able to do whatever it is you want to.

Very nice. For a little mood, and to help defeat some of the hot spots, try dropping the exposure to maybe -1/3 or -2/3 EV, then bump up levels in Photoshop to compensate.

The biggest change was Auto Levels (shift-ctrl-L, Or: Image/Adjustments/Auto Levels). I also used the heal tool to wipe out a few specks here and there. Then I bumped up saturation just a tiny bit (+7).

Auto Levels works about 95% of the time. But every now and then, it just doesn't "get it" and you'll have to undo.

So I should be able to do the same with PS 7.0 . Im new to the PS game and it is a bit overwelming right now. Thanks for the help.
