I am fairly new to coral keeping, but have several different LPS and some softies. Today at the lfs I found a nice little candycane with 10 heads. I have seen them in a number of different colors but this was a first. This baby is pearl white.

Agreed, unfortunately I'd say it's bleached. Make sure you keep it well fed since it can't obtain any energy through photosynthesis, keep the water parameters as stable as possible and it should recover its zooxanthellae eventually.

I had a candycane that looked white under normal light, had a green tint when put under actinic. It was healthy for two years in my tank going from 5-6 head to 50-60 heads fragged down to 25-30 and sold the whole thing with about 50 heads again. I feed it mysis every couple of days and the thing grew too fast to keep up with.

Here's a pic of my tank last year...It's right in the middel of the tank..

Luckly I had an old pic of it on a disk here at work. This coral never suffered from a lack of light, it was not bleached and stayed white for the 2+ years that I owned it.

Wow, funky. Looks healthy, and if it was that way for years I guess these guys DO come in white! I learn something new every day :)

Yeah, you just have to be sneaky with the syringe or it will close up! :D Start lightly spraying the food before you get to it so that you don't have to spray it with just juicy water, and aim for the middle of the head, not the tentacles. Meaty food is best like squid, shrimp, silversides. But I also use brine, mysis, flake and cyclop-eeze. Good luck :D

As mentioned, there are some white ones out there that is not bleaching. The ones I have seen have kindof a silver sheen to them......
