New clam...few ?'s

Ok since this is my first clam I just want to make sure that I'm doing thing correct. I picked up a 3-3.5" T. Crocea from John's last Friday. I've read that Crocea's are rock dwelling, so I put him in a nice nesseled place in the rock work. He's getting low to moderate flow and is putting out it's mantel and looking good (from my perspective). One thing that worries me is there seems to be a couple faded area's on the mantel like some of the tissue was rubbed, is this Ok will it return. It might just be some golden coloration in the manted and not any damage, it's hard to tell.
The other thing is that in the spot it's in, it can't open up much more than it is in the pics, I can try to cut out some of the rock to allow it open more if it wanted. and just FYI it has put out and attached it's foot...should I, or is it Ok the way it is....and now for the pics...

It looks fine, Dave. Just keep an eye on it for the next few days. Eventually, the mantle should extend out far enough to the point where you can hardly see the shell anymore. Crocea's don't need to open up that much to do it.

Despite what others may say, crocea's should not be gaping. No gaping and attachment is a good sign. It'll shift on its own if it doesn't like its position. Keep us posted.

The clam looks like it's in a nice spot. You might want to move that frag in front of it. The mantle on one side of my crocea is approaching 2.5 to 3 inches. There's a good chance that frag will get shaded or receive contact from the mantle. If you need to move the clam, you can just move the rock it's attached to or cut the foot as far from the clam as you can. Good luck, that's a real nice one.

Thanks for the info guys. Well I read enough to put a piece of rubble under him that he did most of his attaching to, so if I do need to move the clam it's not going to be that difficult. That cap may be moved soon, I think it needs to go higher up in the tank anyways. That piece should be green with b.blue poylps, and right now you can only see the green under actinic...
