new clam

okay i finally got a squmosa clam the other day. just a few questions.
1st will it do better on rocks or sand? i knew this answer but forgot.
2nd is it normaly for it to only close up half way when my hand goes over it?
ohter than that it looks healthy. no gapping and its mantle is extending beautifuly. it moved from one side of my tank to the front by the glass.

i've always seen them on the sand bed, people attach them to flat rocks, my maxima's are on the sand bed attached to nothing, also my maximas only close up halfway when my hand is in the tank also. anychance of a pick i love squamosa clams but my husband is partial to maximas

do to my lights in my tank im limited to squamosa, deresa or hippos.
