I've heard a few rumours about Iwasaki coming out with a "new" 6500K bulb. I spoke to someone with the 250-watt and they were very happy, but no one with the 400-watt. WHat is the difference between the new and old Iwasaki 6500K, and what is the 400-watt version like?
It's bulb-changing time in a week or so and I'm very interested in this bulb, I just found the "old" Iwasaki a little too yellow for my liking.

Tom

Hi Tom,

We have had the new Iwasaki in 250 and 400watt for a few months. The new ones have a resistor inside the bulb. I do not know technically what it does, other then it makes the bulb appear much more white, so it's still labelled 65K, but is getting close to 10K color for the same price. Many are calling it the poor man's 10k now. We only stock the new bulb, so if you order one, you'll get the newer version.

THanks for the info Jason. Looks like that's the way I'll go. Does the new one have the same intensity as the old 6500K? At the moment I'm using 10kK Ushio so it's probably going to be brighter than my current lighting anyway.
Also, do you mind shipping to Australia? :)
Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,

The new 65K's will be less bright then the older ones, but not by much, the more white/blue you push out of a bulb the less intensity, but it's a good trade off.

Shipping to Australia is no problem.

What is the best way to ship it, and how much does each mode of shipping cost? I saw on the site UPS worldwide express cost $66! CAn't afford that!
I was looking for something in the next 7 days time scale, what are the options?
Regards,
Tom
