Hi, all. I just got a Mag Drive 3 pump for my Remora (with hope of increasing performance over the MJ1200). This is one huge pump! Like, it looks like it takes up half of the tank.
Anyways, when I turned it on, it made a horrible grinding noise, like the impeller was trying to tear itself apart. I unplugged it, tried again, same noise.
I took the impeller housing apart and inspected it, and there is a clear score mark on the inside of the housing where the impeller was rubbing. I reassembled the unit and tried again. It's much quieter -- even almost usable -- but is still buzzing like the impeller is hitting a little bit.
Anyone have any similar experiences?
