I've been fighting a high alkalinity and filtration problem. But with all this in the past I've purchased a green mandarin dragonet. He's beautiful. Heres a few pictures of how much better everything looks and a few of the mandarin.

My alkalinity measured 10dKH and my calcium @ 440ppm. PH is a steady 8.3. Ammonia and Nitrates are non-existant.

Did you take photos of the wrong mandarin? Or am I blue/green color blind? :D :D Your mandarin is a Synchiropus splendidus, a green mandarin is a Synchiropus picturatus.

What he has there is known as a green mandarin. They seem more blue than green but thats what it is. These are also known as psychadelic mandarins. The mandarin that has green as a majority of it's color is commonly called a target mandarin or a spotted mandarin.

I myself would have given the title green to the spotted mandarin.
