Well, after two days thinking of how I was going to capture the mantis hitchhiker from my TBS live rock, the situation resolved itself. He moved to a rock that was top / front, and I used the old squirt of freshwater trick to get him into a bucket.
Into my fully cycled eclipse 6g he went. Unfortunately, that same day I bought three Bangaii cardinals to try for a pair. Two paired up immediately and drove off the spare. They were chasing him around my 90g trying for the kill. So I snagged him up, and put him into the only tank available... the 6g.
Now I know that mantissss are predatory and eat everything, etc, etc. What I needed was a short week to get another tank ready for the spare Bangaii. Unfortunately, the mantis ruined those plans last night. The cardinal's tail is sticking out from unter my mantis' rock, and when I tried to grab it out of the tank, the mntis pulls it further under the rock.
SIGH.
Looks like I learned my lesson. I'm sorry for the BC though, it didn't deserve that fate.
