I just got two new shrimps, one of which is gonna go to sirhelm but as of now, they're mine. The peacock is super smart and the best I've ever seen. As for the yellow spearer, no idea what his deal is so help me id him. thanks guys!

wooohooooo got my mantis! Thanks Super!

Well he is a beaut!! about 5" long.

Nice Peacock. (see Supers pics above)

Got him home and let him adjust to the temp in the tank for about an hour or so. Then added a bit of water and let him sit for another half hour. Then added some more water and let him sit for another half hour. Then I added him to the tank. He immediately went exploring his 10 gallon hex..... and started to dig and move things around.

Well so far so good. Unfortunatley the water quality is not the best (nitrites .3ppm) (combined some water from 2 established tanks, plus some fresh saltwater i pre-mixed 2 days ago) but he should be okay. I will do a partial water change tommorrow.

Wasn't expecting to get him today.. but I am glad I did!

Now just to name him.......

mmmmm...... Freddy? Jason?

I will get some pics this weekend.

so excited!

BTW thanks to Supernip... he really went out of his way to help me!

Also thanks to everyone on this forum!

dwarf, I got it from atlantis. It was pretty nice but I figured since I couldnt get sh a free shrimp I got him a really nice one. Hopefully he posts some pictures.

The yellow guy looks nearly identical to my little monster. He started out pretty aggressive but has calmed down to relaxing in the mini reef he has. He shares his cave with a blue damsel even.

Holy something or other batman! It is! But seriously, thats pretty cool. Mine is pretty active, moves everywhere. He doesnt look at nice as a peacock but great personality. I might put in a fumanchu with him but maybe not. Pretty cool, though, hope I could add some other stuff in with him!:mixed:

Yellow Spearer ID

the yellow spearer is a Pseudosquilla cilliata. i've got one at home, spearers in general are not as much of characters as the smashers; they don't have to be as smart to catch fish. but they are still very interesting. P. cilliatas occor almost worldwide, and one of the coolest things they do is change colors when they molt. mines changed a few times from lime green to yellow to a mottled brown and back to yellow. availibility of caves is the main reason but i suspect food quality as well. stores in my area have asked as much as 50 bucks for one like yours so hold onto it!

woo!!! nice mantis'! I do love my Roy but someday I'd like a yellow spearer like that AND an O.s.!

The yellow are really pretty. I wouldn't mind one of those either. I still have 2 extra tanks!:D

supernip,

Did you pick up the two yellow cillatas from TP? I know that there were 2 there... dunno if you picked up both of them.
