New Pet Store in Southington

I have NOTHING but good things to say about Realm of Pets, for example.
We know... :p
Only kidding... but seriously... Haha

I've never been to an all pets, and think it would be nice to have another place semi close to where I live. Don't know if I'll stop there often, but I'm excited to give it a shot. For anyone that has been there, do they usually have particularly nice or rare stuff or is it more your run-of-the-mill stuff in terms or corals?

in my opinion its great to see another petstore there!!!! if you dont like the price your not forced to get it.go online and pay the price of a fish or a coral that is a gamble you cant see in person how the condition is.then pay a shipping fee. Then risk it getting shipped with stress.
Im happy to see another petstore there regardless who it is.its better then some nail salon!!!!!!

Well you're definately right there, it is better than a nail salon... I think there's already one in that plaza if I recall and that would just be some serious pedicure competition, could get ugly. But I still remember talk of another independent store opening up down the road, what ever happened with that?

I've only been to the one in Wallingford. I'll be honest, not impressed. I've bought some stuff there before, but very little. Generally, the fish are unhappy, and the coral selection is very little. They have gotten better in the past three years, and do have a few (3?) tanks with frags, but very overpriced frags.

The one in Wallingford pretty much has run-of-the-mill corals but every once in a while they get something in that surprises me. It seems they've been dropping the prices of the corals/frags a lot lately -- between that and the club card discount they are very reasonably priced. I've been telling them they need more color in their coral tanks.... I'll bug them again tonight. They get new stuff in twice a week so it's definitely worth it for me to stop and take a look.

I was angry about paying for the card at first. But..they do a year for $30 now. So, definitely worth it. As far as the corals...you really gotta look. They had many different acans for $25 each. I bought a 9 head..awesome red acan for $54. SPS..ORA frags of good size for $32. Great brain corals for $40. I bought an awesome maxi-mini carpet anemone for $40. Small frags are only $14...which I bought many nice ones. Plus..the get nice monti's from time to time(see my other thread!!). You really gotta look and go back often. When they get good new stuff...I buy it all..LOL!!!

Muppet - do you hear the Angels singing? I found out tonight that Zack WILL BE working at the Southington All Pets Club store. :)

Went to wallingford today. Got a new fox coral and chalice...green with pink mouths. Frags were two for $24. I could not resist a chalice for that price:bounce3:

I can't tell but it actually looks like Zach is in the picture with Jerry (one of the owners of APC) in the construction pictures, not positive but it looks like him from behind at least which would be nice if he actually is involved in the build out

I'm pretty sure Zach is involved in it because he's currently employed by APC....he's putting in hours at the Wallingford store and I imagine time in Southington, too. They moved one of the coral tables to the Wallingford store to set it up there. I believe the other two will stay in Southington.

Doesn't Jerry's hair look darker????? I wasn't sure if that was him or not - the hair threw me.

Ive aways thought that APC in Wallingford and Branford had decent prices on corals. I just dont think the selection rivals that of most of the talked about LFS's on this board. I have always found their staff to be helpful and knowledgable but sometimes its so busy in the fish dept that you end up waiting for someone to help you.
