new pump

Thought I would post some pics of my new pump. I don't have a whole lot to report right now as it is still in it's breakin period. Basically running it at the lowest setting until the bearing "seats". It will remain quite loud until that happens 24-48 hrs per the documentation.

First impressions is that it's not bad for a domestic made product (I expected slightly better craftsmanship). If the pump performs as advertised then I guess appearances won't matter.

Overall I think I will be happy with it.

My nitpickin issue---the "belly button" as EcoTech called it

They were created by EcoTech Marine, IceCap is marketing it through it's various dealers. Currently they are going for full sticker price of $345 + shipping. Several companies have them in stock that I am aware of, this one came from Aquarium Specialty. Scott seemed like a stand up guy, we had a small shipping issue and once realized he worked diligently to fix it. I chalk it up to an honest mistake and nothing more---it has certainly happened to me in my own business before.

With a Tunze 6100 at just a bit cheaper, I would wait and see how it performs a year from now.

Looks nice though. Can you adjust the direction or is it not adjustable?

I like it but think 345.00 is a bit steep.JMO

Steep is probably an understatement. I've cheaped out on several other components in my system in the past and decided to go another direction in the future...although price really has little bearing on quality.

I reccomend for those considering this pump to take a look at this thread --I added some new pictures there today and the response is interesting.

Speed is manually adjustable, direction is not. IMO with this pump the direction is much less important due to a very wide pattern. I believe someone stated 108 degrees within 3 inches.
