new RO UNIT question

I just got a brand new RO system setup. Ive produced 15 gallons of water and im getting a TDS reading of 30. My friend says that I need to run it for 50 gallons to get it "broken in" before the TDS gets to zero. Is this true?

It does take a few gallons to clean out the unit. Not sure about 50 gallons though, seems a little much. Anyway, run it for some more and see. You should be getting a TDS of 1-3 on an RO unit, TDS of 0 on an RODI unit.

What type/brand RO unit do you have?

It will take a bit for it to settle down to its lowest number.

You can try flushing the membrane a few times and see if it helps. Do you have a flush valve?

What ratio are you running and what kind or RO unit is it?

I 2 recently got a new RO system and had to flush it several times to get a 00 reading:wave:

you should have a di stage following the ro. It can be added to your unit. 30 tds after ro is on the high side. what does your tap read ?
