New Rock Question

Ok, we just pruchased 12 lbs of what the LFS said was fully cured rock. Last nite, we put it in a 10 gal tank before adding directly to main tank. Main tank is at the end of another cycle. Today we are going to scrub the "dusty" stuff off the new rock. The question is, when should we add the new rock? Will it cause another cycle? Should we let the new rock sit in the small tank for awhile? And will it cause a cycle in the main tank no matter when we add the new rock?

If its fully cured and you clean it up real good you might notice a very small cycling. Sometimes I have and sometimes I have not seen any evidence. You can always let it do its thing in another tank and then transfer it in a few weeks or so.

it's pretty clean rock with nice color and shapes!! i'm thinkin it's gonna have a small cylcle whether i wait or not......we're leanin towards waiting though.

I would let it stay in the other tankand watch your ammonia. When it stays at 0.0 I'd move it to the MT.
