new sump

Go as big as you can fit in the stand if you are going to be setting up a fuge. Otherwise, if you are just using to hide equipment (skimmer, heater, etc.), just big enough to fit the equipment and a return pump (if submersible).

Leave room for expanding amounts of supplies you may want to put in the stand too.

Personally, I am setting up my 90 now and have a 40 gallon breeder that I will be using as a sump.

**I am assuming you are putting the sump in the stand and not having it separate (in a basement, fishroom, closet, etc.)

I just got back from the LFS. The same store where I bought my 90 gal. They had the same display and were trying to fit a sump they had in the stand (same size as mine) but it was too big. They are ordering me one that is 24 inches long. I didnt ask how many gallons but that is my fault as a newbie. How may gallons do you think that sump is at 24 inches long? And do you think it will be big enough?

Hard to say not having all of the demensions. But here is a calculator to try and figure out how many gallons it is.

Hard to say if it will be big enough. The bigger the better.

i get 7.5 from the calculator. The sump is bigger than 7.5. So I should be ok.....right?

I just called my LFS. The sump is 24 gal. Will that work?
