Hello all? I am new to this and forum clubs and am excited to be a member of the Upsate Reef Society. I want to learn all the things I can and meet as many of you as possible some day.I hope to have a great time with this.
Yes Boyz1 I am the person you meet at the pet world this is great. Also as you have all noticed I am new but I assuming an aiptasia is that ugly half bread looking coral/ floating brown stain. I would love to get rid of them. I just need to know how. thank you for the help.
You can get a hypodermic needle at your local eckerdx pharmacy. Just tell the pharmacist what you need it for. I got mine for free. Just don't go in there lookin' all cracked out.
Then you make a really really salty paste, or kalkwasser paste, and inject it in them right in the mouth. You'll have to do it quick, and know the angle of which they will go in their hole so you can follow them in with the needle. You won't need much. Maybe one syringe for all of them.
Welcome to the URS.
Ditto what Stephany said.. Aiptasia are a scourge, best to deal w/ them early. "Joe's Juice" is another product that is purported to work well. Personally, I've had the greatest success w/ this method:
Welcome! I have also had good sucess killing aptasia with a syringe full of Kents calcium or Lime juice. I hit one with lime juice one day and it closed up. Then next morning it opened up again, but all the tenticles where fryed off. I hit it again with lime juice and I have not seen it since.
Also Joe's Juice works too and with your size tank it won't cost that much to get rid of them using that. Also try introducing a natural predator such as peppermint shrimp...For your tank 1 should do it.
Also, I notice it looks like you have a yellow cucumber in there. I'd watch it and make sure it doesn't shrink. A tank that size and that young may not have enough food for it to scavenge.
