Hi my names Dave and I,m new to this site and love what I see,what a wonderful source of info. Anyway I,ve been keeping f/w tanks for about 3yrs and s/w for about 1 1/2 and I,m hoping to convert all my tanks to s/w in the future. I,m retired and disabled from the service so this is about all I do now [6 f/w tanks and 1 s/w ] I love my s/w tank its a 29gal and fish wise I have 2 clowns and 2 damsil,some nice button poylips and some star,s also.i also have 1 brown leather,a frog spawn,1 orange brick sponge 1 candy coral, 4 flower anemones and 1 pink tip anemone. 2 turbo snails and 5 emarald crabs and 2 sand sifter star fish. yeah I know its alot for a 29g tank but everything seems to be doing good except my green buttons sometimes seem to loose they,re green center and turn white in the middle.I have a 130w compact light a filstar xp2 filter and a sea clone skimmer oh yeah 30lbs of live rock as well. Anyway I really want to add a clam to my tank but my lfs say I have to have m/h lighting to keep a clam, I want to know if there is any type of clam that I can keep with compact florecent. Any advice and I,d be grateful. thanx all

Personally, with a tank of that size and the lighting you have, I would stay away from the clams. Thats just my opinion, though.
the more light you give clams the better they do. the smaller, brightly colored clams(Crocea, Maximas) need them most, intense lighting. the larger clams(Gigas, Derasa) might do ok with that lighting but will out grow you tank.
