Is it neccesary for clams to be placed in the sand bed? And if not would PC's be sufficient if the clam was placed higher in the tank?

How many watts of PC lighting do you have and how deep is your tank. Providing you have enough, Hippopus, Deresa, Squamosa and Gigas would work. I wouldn't try Maxima or Crocea with PC.

24 in deep 96W PC's. Not really planning on getting any just wanted to know if it were possible.

If that's the case, I don't think you could keep one healthy for a long time.

No I dont know for sure but I have 8 96W PC 4 Whites And 4 Blue

Well in that case you should be able to keep the Hippopus, Gigas, Deresa's and the Squamies succesfully.
