Newbie question

I bought a pink montipora. when it grows (God willing..) beyond the frag plate, is it going to encrust or bond into the neighboring rock?

If it grows to contact rock, it'll very likely encrust and overgrow the rock, though it will probably throw up more plates from that attachment.
