Removing the algae manually, as much as possible, will eliminate a lot of the silicates and reduce the growth of the algae. Eventually there won't be enough in the water for it to continue spreading and it will die off.
If you want to kill it fast turn your lights off for a week. Then do a good water change and siphon out the dead. But as said, they'll die on their own soon.
