Hey...in case y'all haven't noticed...someone forgot to renew the domain name registration ;)

Also...dunno how much you are paying to host the site currently...but http://hostgator.com/ has some pretty cheap hosting...I currently have an account through them...and they have a lot of stuff... bulletin boards... content managment systems...etc. Just wanted to offer the tip (and if your budget is pretty tight...I'd be willing to let you piggy back into my account for $20 a yr ... or could trade it for a frag of something :) ... I'd just set you up w/ your own username/password into your own directory...)

I have their 'baby' account ... you can see what comes with it here:
http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml

A co-worker and I both have some sites on the account... they are all pretty low traffic sites...and we just figured if we at some point went over the bandwidth/size restrictions we'll just upgrade...

If y'all want to do this..I can give you ftp access to your domain...then if you want any of the tools set up like the php boards or blog...just let me know..and I'll log into the master account and set them up with their wizard.

I'm pretty much always accessible w/in a few hours to do anything to the website ( ask Rob at RobsReef... I do his site ) ... except this weekend I'm going out of town for my birthday so I'll be gone tonite thru Sunday afternoon.

I sent Joseph a PM re: the domain expiration.

czieler - Thanks for the info. I was asking because I can host also. Not sure if one of the club members is paying for hosting, and what the resource demands of the NFMAS site are, but could most likely host the site for free if the need ever surfaced.

This would include an admin account with full control panel access allowing Joseph or whoever to manage everything. I do not perform web development, but wish I had the time to dab a little more into it. I'd still leave this up to whoever does this (looks like Joseph) and would not be expecting to be involved with it.

With NFMAS having features for club members to post pictures of their tanks, etc., I'm unsure how much space is currently taken for this as well as what should be expected for future growth. It seems duplicated though since we actively use the RC forum for our club, which also includes member pics.

Funny how the hosting discussion is coming from the domain simply expiring, but at least it's good to know what options are available and the capabilities our club members have.

If the need ever arises, maybe I could exchange some frags for a small web dev project if you ever had the time? :D I've written VB back in the vb5 and vb6 days and a lot of vb scripting (w/MS SQL), but not much .NET...have been playing around with VS 2005 a little. Most all my code applies to enterprise admin/network automation type of stuff and nothing web-enabled.

I host numerous sites and hosting for nfmas.com is not a problem and costs me far less than $20/year. The domain name is owned by the person who originally started nfmas and I'm trying to contact him to resolve the issue.

Sounds good Joseph! Is the domain owner still a member of the club? If not, maybe he'll transfer it over to you??

If I'm not mistaken, then I think that Stuart sold his tank about a year or so ago. When I get a hold of him it should not be a problem to get the name transferred.

Thanks Carrie, but I have already tried to call him and have left a message for him to contact me back. I have also sent him an email to every address that I have for him and sent him a PM on RC. If you want to try to get a hold of him then that would be great too. It would be nice to get the site back up at some point.
