Nice Dreams

Hiya chaps and chapesses, after buying my own house at the age of 44 ( and by buy I mean large mortgage ) it was always my intention to have a large tank again. Having dabbled in marines and coral over the years it was about in 2016 when I shut the last one down.
I’m from Blighty - England. My humour is dark and dry so buckle up buckaroos - it may get messy ! !

Below are a couple of build pics for the extension to house the tank.

The Tank is to be positioned under the small window which I hope will help with gas exchange and maybe cooling. I had decided on a 72x30x29, but this soon changed, obviously after I built the stand ! !

Where the tanks going. There is to be No Sump under this tank as I’m far to damaged and old to keep bloody bending down all the time, so the dump is to be housed in the garage as a remote sump. I like the idea of this and we’ll see how that goes.

Really looking forward to this one. I know there are UK reef keepers but it's great to see a build-out here. Would you say there are fewer over there these days?

I think there are less everywhere these days. I think electricity costs plus time, plus let’s be honest most of us are technology tarts and want the cutting edge gear lol. Definitely think there’s less people coming into the hobby

Think I forgot to add the new dims, 66 x 31 x 29 holds about 900 ish litres plus the external weir, plus the sump probably going to be a total system of about 1600 litres ! !

The sump room in the garage, tank is situated beyond the wall on the right. Used Kingspan Greenguard 100mm thick for the floor, as it’s a garage floor we in the uk keep these 75mm lower than the main house when attached and I insulated. So the 100mm Kingspan will sort that out and if the sump overflows the house is safe ! ! Woohoo ! !

Now to the sump - think it’s 500 or 600l - won’t be running it that high though lol

I have also purchased a Neptune Cor 20 pump which I plan to use as a closed loop pump. I’m using the Deltec e-flow 16 as the return pump

I went with the external weir as I really want the tank space for Tank stuff ! ! I also went with black silicone and euro brace. Not a fan of braceless tanks with their bowing glass, my bum would start sucking in fabric if I had one of those, so that’s a no ! ! I’m just gonna say it now, I have a love for Wrasses which may get out of control ! ! Wrasses Wrasses Wrasses, I like tangs as well but will add those last and together. I’m will also add my dream fish - a pair of Swallowtail Angels ( Blackspot ).

Here’s the tank drawing I sent the Tank builder -
Tank was due beginning of Feb bug delayed due to the Tank Bullder having to source Starfire glass ( low iron ) from a different supplier due to not selling it anymore so due in a month or so ! !

Nice! Following along.

That is a very cool area for a tank. How much sunlight comes in there...will it be directly on the tank at any point? Thinking algae, etc.

My Border Collie would be sure not to leave any food in that bowl behind you! LOL

The skimmer is an ATB Normal size and the Kalk Stirrer is also an ATB

Hiya, only very early in the morning through the large glass doors, there will be blinds up but only when I can find something I like ! ! Glad you’re along for the ride ! !

Once I can afford it I plan on getting an Apex to manage all the automation, I’ve bought an Apex auto top off as well. Hope they are as bullet proud as the Tunze ! !
