Noisy return Pump

If one large pump for a 90 gal reef AGA mega flow is to noisy, could one use two smaller pumps together that would equal the flow of the larger pump. one Lg = 960gph max flow and the 2 smaller pumps rated max 480 gph? My original 75 reef leaked and I'm starting over and I'm in the wet test phase.

What pump were you using that was so loud? There are pumps (high rated) that are not bad. :)

After seeing the Eheim pumps recommended as the most consistently quiet by multiple posters, I am going to try one. I have already gone through several Beckett pumps which start out quiet and eventually set my whole place to vibrating. Right now I am using a 402 powerhead as my return, it's reasonably quiet but I need more power.

I ordered Genx 40. Sounded more like an air pump. Called pacific coast imports and they sent a new impeller. Somwhat quieter but still to loud. Even used soft tubing and still getting a vibration. Thinking of two Pan world 40's rated @ 480gph.

Eheim if you want a quiet submersible. IMO, 900+ GPH is a lot for a 90G return pump, but if you want a high flow, get the 1262. I run a 1260 as a return for my 90G and am very happy with the flow and the (lack of) noise.
