First question.. Do you know what species of octopus you have? This is important. If they are eggs from a large egg laying species like O.bimaculoides, O.briareus or O.mercatoris you can rear them. If they are from a small egg laying species like O.vulgaris, O.bimaculatus or O.joubini they are next to impossible to rear.
I am rearing a hatchling from O.mercatoris right now. A good place to start is on my good friend Jimbos site. This will fill you in on whats ahead of you. http://www.jimbolouislabs.com/eggjournal.htm

Hmmm well there are a few different species that come from the atlantic ocean off our coast. O.briareus, O.mercatoris, O.vulgaris are the common ones. O.vulgaris is a small egg laying species. No chance of rearing them really. O. mercatoris and O.briareus are large egg layers. You can rear both of them. O. vulgaris lays thousands of tiny eggs in grape like bunches.
The other two species will lay rice size eggs that are not hanging in bunches like grapes. They will be attached one by one spread out over a small area. They will look just like the ones on jimbos page.Do you know when the eggs might have been laid? Its late in the season and they should be hatching very soon.

I don't think you have much time left. If you are going to try rearing yourself you need to find a source of live food quick and some kind of rearing chamber. They don't stand a chance in the main tank. Are they large or small eggs?
