does anyone have odyssea lights? are they any good or have you heard anything about them? all comments appreciated thanks

i got one.. not bad. especially for the money. it has worked really well for me and i cant really complain about anything except for the fans they used in it didnt really work all that well until i pulled them up and lubed up the bearings

thank you for your reply. i thought they looked pretty good but what doesnt online. they say they have 2 power cords. is that so you can simulate dawn and dusk? are the fans loud? i really appreciate your imput thanks again

I have also been wondering about the odyssea/jebo brand lighting fixtures. I've been wanting to buy one for the price but I figure if it's that cheap, it's too good to be true. I've also been wondering about the quality of them, are the fans noisy? I'm trying to decide today weather to get that or just go ahead and buy a coralife pc from ebay.

I would avoid JEBO/ODDYSEA, personally. The construction is cheap, they may not last long, fans normally need to be replaced and the bulbs usually need to be replaced also. I've heard that their actinic bulbs on their MH setup were just white bulbs painted blue! Now, not everything i've heard was bad, but most of it was. I would go for the reliability and customer service Coralife. (When I called the JEBO company they didn't really help me at all and didn't seem real knowledgeable)

i have had mine for quite some time.. it isnt the best piece of equipment out there and for the money its great.. you can always put new bulbs in after you run those for a while if you want something cheap.. im building my setups from now on but i didnt really have any gripes with that piece... corals grew great

Make sur you reread carefully about the two power cords. Chances are it has two power switches but only one cord. This is not a problem if you turn your lights on and off manually, but if you use a timer once the power is cut to the main lights you cannnot turn on your moon lights.

i have their 65X4 PC and its been great to me.....they packaged the hell out of it....mines fans work fine, they did cause a mettalic vibration sound for a bit but then i just replaced the legs for a little more support. They work great for me

We SERIOUSLY need a stickied thread about these lights.

From personal experience I can say several things about them:

1: Their PC fixtures are decent. But their bulbs are crap. You must replace their bulbs ASAP and by the time you've bought the fixture, good bulbs and shipping for both you could have paid like $30 more and gotten a Current USA fixture.

2: Their MH fixtures are a mixed bag. NEVER go with their 175W fixtures as they are only 150W DE bulbs on a 175W ballast. Having a 150W fixture with the original bulbs (just haven't gotten around to changing them yet), I can say that the bulbs are also junk but the fixture seems to be decent.

3: Their T5 HO fixtures are crap. Dont' touch them.

4: People have complained about fans going out early and shoddy workmanship but I've personally had good luck with them.

5: Their service is non-existant. If it's defective or otherwise non-functional you're pretty much on your own.

Use at your own risk.

I would agree with Cutiewitbooty, When i make a purchase i consider how energy efficient it is and if it is a quality product. I plan on having a reef for a long time so i need equiptment that is going to last a long time and not burn down my house. Especially when it comes to something as improtant as lighting.

had a jebo pc hood when they first came out and it was nothing but problems....have also witnessed two fellow reefers odysea hoods have small electrical fires....one was due to a fan going on the frits and the other was just bad wiring....both were only over two weeks old....as per customer service....well non existent on both occasions.....as said earlier buyer beware:)

I think the have gerat customer service...I called to tell them about the vibrating noise and they immediately got a technician on teh phone and he told me they would ship two new fans no questions asked...the noise just turned out to be vibration from what it was sitting on...and their new odyssea PCs i doubt they could cause a fire they are made of powder coated metal

and how are the bulbs crap just wonding if i should replace mine

Well, their "actinic" bulbs aren't actinic at all. They're just blue colored.

In addition, their 20K bulbs are more like 11K if that so lord only knows what other kind of spectral defiencies they have.

Most people I know who have their PC fixtures report much better light given once the bulbs are replaced.

Edit: Whenever I consider one of their fixtures (and I do often), I always include the price of replacement bulbs from somewhere like Reefgeek or Hellolights.

mine came with 2 actnic and 2 12000K...They were bright enough to mess with my vision when i first got the tank in my room...but then again i havent seen them with replacement bulbs

i have a single 65w. bought before i heard all of the bad things. i have to say that is a great fixture though. just have to replace the bulb.
