I have had my blonde naso tang for about 6 weeks and I added a yellow tang that is healthy as well about 3 weeks ago. Today I noticed my tangs swimming as if something was bitting them. I noticed them hanging out by my cleaner shrimp. They have no white spots on them so I am hoping they don't have ich. What I noticed is them darting and sharply turning in the water as if they were scratching against the rocks but they did it in open water. Also as they swim they may twitch. My naso normally picks at everything as if his appitite is never satisfied but today he hasn't been nibbling at anything. My yellow tang is normal and and his behavior hasn't changed other than the erratic swimming. What could possibly been wrong and how should I proceed and what should I treat with? Thanks

Sounds like ich to me. You can't always see ich durning all of it's stages. Might want to get them into a QT tank.

In my tank I have lps and sps corals along with fire fish, a mandrin, wrasse, a clam and cleaner shrimp. I have the equipment to set up a qt tank but haven't done so yet. I guess there's no treating the fish in the tank is there? My tank has been running 7-8 months now. Where did the ich come from?

I t may have come in with your last fish or it could have been there all along as a mild case and the addition of the yellow tang caused stress and brought it out. Double check all of your water parameters. I was treating my yellow tang in QT when it acted like yours is. I had let my pH drop drastically. I slowly corrected the pH and the twitchy symptoms cleared up.

If it is ich I believe you will never be rid of it unless you remove all of your fish from the main taqk, QT them and have your main tank sit fish free for at least six weeks.

Good luck and I hope it isn't a case of ich.
