OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photos in gallery.

Here is my 72 bow. I've noticed this a few times but figured with me pulling my hands out of the water had it dripping down and the salt would build up. So, earlier tonight, I cleaned it and made sure no water was near it. Now it is showing salt there. There doesn't appear to be any wet water from what I can tell. Does this mean there is a leak? What do I do? I just got the tank from beldt's about 10 days ago!

It appears to have just a bit of red in some of it? It sits on top of the bottom trim.

It does have a canopy and there is a bit of moisture on the inside of it and some salt but it seems kindof far fetched. I'm going to put a peice of paper under it to see if any is falling. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Justin

justin you sure thats not just from water running down the glass after you took something out or build up in the canopy?

It's not from running down the glass because I have not gotten near it today except to clean it to check if it built back up. I'm hoping it's from the canopy. I have some color paper hanging there now to catch anything from the canopy. I hope that's it.

If it's not, would the leak jepordize the stability of the tank? I have 2 small kids and don't want them around it if it's dangerous!

i think salt water sits in that trim piece that you cant get to that ran down the tank from your hands, etc. being in there in the past , and then evaporates and leaves that salt creep to show.

How can I tell if that is the case and not a leak?

would the leak jepordize the stability of the tank? I have 2 small kids and don't want them around it if it's dangerous!

do you have any better pics of the trim piece? I had a 55g that I resealed.. In testing the leak i accidentaly spilled water down the side.. after it was all dried off looking there really was water still down in there that looked just like a leak.. i think if it was leaking you would see actual water and not salt creep?

And no, it wouldn't be a safety issue, espeically for that small of a leak (if it even is one, I'd agree with the others that its probably nothing).

I can't really send better pics because I already wiped it up. Is salt creep common?

If you send me your email I can send the pics I have that are larger than I can post on this site. Maybe that would help!

I appreciate your help. I won't be able to sleep!

Will this jepordize the stability if it is a leak?

I have salt creep on the outside of both my sump & fuge, they have no leaks, comes from the spray of the water crashing in.

But does it come within hours and no "wet" that is noticeable.

I hope you are all correct!

I don't really care if it's falling from my canopy or old water sitting in the trim. I just don't want a leak!

im sure its fine, even if it was leaking, slim to no chance of it blowing out the glass, is it the oceanic plastic canopy?

yes. oceanic plastic canopy.

How do I find the root of the problem?

I'm afraid that it's not the canopy because the salt buildup is in the crack.
However, the salt is along most of the front except near the edges where there is more of a gap due to the bow front...Maybe that would dry faster and that is why...

Plastic canopy tends to let the mostiure build up sit in the canopy & may leak down the glass 1 drop at a time & hard to see, i had this problem with a 32 gal bowfront.

I have had two tanks that would always do that to me, how long does it take to build up again after you clean it off?

Well I had the paper hanging last night and when I woke up the salt was there again on the bottom so it's not coming from the canopy...Does this mean there is a leak. There has to be some kind of water to continually make it salt up above the trim...

Should I call beldts? I'm guessing the AGA have warranties.

Is there any way to positively conclude that it is a leak?
