Is it OK for clams to be out of the water for a while ? like a few seconds ? or must it always be submerged in water.

Also, I have this white cottony stuff on the shell on only one side of my 2 " Maxima clam. I tried to pick it offf but its so sticky and don't want to come off. Is this OK to leave it alone ?

Lastly, on feeding. I alternate between Kent's and DT's. I pour in a capful every other day directly into my 55 Gallon tank. Is this enough ?

It is fine for a healthy clam to be out of the water for a while. In the wild, some clams live on reef flats where they are totally exposed at low tide. To be on the safe side, I would limit the time out of water to a minute or two.

Well I have read in the giant clam book that they sometimes take clams out of the water for up to two days to kill boring sponges. this was being done at a clam farm.
