Ok what happened to the euro-reef forum

Yes unfortunately what was once the place to share, learn, and find answers about Euroreefs became the complaint board based on a few unsatisfied customers and the minions they collected. Major bummer, I got the question I had answered there in less than 12 hours which got me back up and running so I was looking forward to using the space. Whatever, though, there's always the phone.

Yeah I was a little confused as well. I saw the B@#%^ session and was completely miffed. I had a problem and actually sent an email and they responded within 24 hours and I was on the right track in no time.

It will be missed.

I do hope that ER does let MD or other vendors sell their parts. It only makes it easier for their comsumers to up keep their products.

Agree with that -- the parts need to be more widely available if the service counter doesn't produce them quickly enough. However, I have no basis aside from one irate customer's opinion (which is worth very little, you know what they say about opinions) as to how well said service counter works -- so it may be perfect already.

AR,

Many irrate customers. And the forum exposed ERs unwillingness to even provide a bare minimum of customer service. They wont even respond to an irrate customer, let alone attempt to resolve a situation.

They are unwilling to be of any service and I guess they want to continue to hide that rather than deal with the problem.

As for the board becoming a complaint board for irrate customers, look at the other vendor forums. There are irrate customers on every one. There are complaints on every one. The difference is the way they are handled. Most vendors are able to turn an irrate customer into a satisfied one or at least expose them as unreasonable. That is the difference between a quality vendor and a second rate outfit. ER is the one who chooses to operate as a back yard, second rate sham. They are the one who chooses not to face these irrate customers. The forum simply exposed the weakness, it did not create it.

What's your deal? You have 73 posts, and over half of them are Euroreef Bashing posts..........

Golden -- okay, so the board exposed a problem, and has done so with lots of other vendors.

What has been gained compared to what has been lost, strictly as it pertains to ER?

Bottom line for me is collectively trying to effect the economics of these companies by complaining en masse only serves to ultimately reduce the choices we have and increase the prices (see ASM's changes today) on the products that stand out by default. One person with a complaint should call (not publicly air in a volatile environment like this) ER, and if they can't get resolution contact their attorney if it's worth the money. Getting froggy on a message board only serves to further that single person's interests when others pile on, and although I have done it before (CPR AquaFuges before they redesigned the center brace), I learned my lesson -- the ultimate result hurts everyone else in almost all cases via either lesser service from that company, higher prices on competing products, or fewer choices.

Single people with complaints, fine. People who pile on just for the sake of doing so, hurts everyone.

And at some point you have to let it go, unless your problem is so significant that the only acceptable answer for you is to drive ER out of business. If that's it, you're a lot better off finding a good attorney than running around RC trolling ER threads...
