One man's trash, another man's treasure.....

Well, last night was trash night for our neighborhood. I did my routine weekly trash foraging as usual. It was a long day at work and the night was getting cold. Nothing really good until almost the end of my route when I notice this little shimmer reflecting the street light half hidden behind a recycling container. I thought to myself I better bring something good home or I am going to get it from the Mrs. Lo and behold, it was this awesome looking protein skimmer, all cleaned and ready to be hooked up to a beautiful tank. I am still going to get a mouthful from the Mrs. but I don't care, I can use it for my next big tank............LOL............so I have an active imagination........

The truth is someone (many thanks Clint-o-saurus!) just upgrade to a Deltec (some of us just have fatter wallets, or a more understanding wife, or both  ) and I was lucky enough to snatch this flawless H&S A200. Of course, I may have to start foraging on trash nights to raise enough $$$ to pay for this thing

Enough talk, here are a couple of pix. This is in anticipation of a large tank upgrade in the near future. I already picked up a GEO 618 Ca reactor so I am getting closer to the promised land.

What? Wait? So did you really pick it up on a night drive around the block? Or is was it Clints. If it was how the hell does he keep his skimmers so clean, or does he just water test them and store them ....Nice score Kenny, how big you thinking of upgrading?

Yeah, it was Clint's. He said he specially washed it in bleach and acid for me  I kid. I kid.

He has a lot of time on his hands right now so he must have really got on his hands and knees to scrub this thing clean until it looks like new.

The PLAN (which could be vetoed by THE BOSS) is to shoot for a total system volume of 500+ gallons. The main display will be around 250-300 with a ~120 gallon frag tank tied into a common sump in the garage.

Thanks Benny.

The skimmer is 32" tall with an 8" tube and 2x Eheim 1260 pumps. I saw it in action before it was taken down and it's killer.

I relly like the details on that skimmer. The pvc rings around the body where the pumps break through are a great idea. Excellent reinforcing.

lol.. kenny ill be sure to tell you when i clean out my garage and toss the 702... l

Is that what you are calling it these days Gab?

Kenny, I couldn't think of a better person to have this skimmer. It is so clean because I took off all the duct tape :eek2: . It is hard to believe that wood glue actually dries clear. Imagine that?

Anyway, I can't wait to follow Kenny's large tank build. If anyone knows Kenny or has seen his systems, I foresee the Guinness book of world records visiting his tank for the most frags housed in a single tank :D .

Thanks for the ricordia Kenny. Hurry up and get that tank a runnin!!
