open brain placement??

just started seeing the my new open brain doesn't like to much flow. should i put him on the sand?? where do you guys place your brains? in the rockwork or on the sand?? Thanks in advance!

I have mine on a rock "shelf" where it gets strong light and gentle current. Seems to love it.

I just got one and placed it in the sand. It's the lowest flow zone in my tank but I think it may still be too much. Definitely low flow

Yeah, low and indirect flow. I have mine on the bottom of my BB tank. To me, it hasn't so much mattered on what surface I place it, so much as the flow it gets on that surface.

You also need to make sure that wherever you put it, it can't snag or tear on any rocks when it opens up. That's why you normally see them on the sand.
