Oppinions on food

Excellent but after all that process I've already had 3 beers and cleaned my skimmer and sump, cause I split a piece of Roger's food put it in the mesh and done.

There's all of the above besides black worms all in one w/o excess and QUALITY ingredients.

+1 lol

sorry Manny and AL although it might be the perfect food .........dont make me laugh $20 for 7oz ya right.....in this instance it is not cost effective to use that food with my setup.......my one fish would eat 1/2 the plate in two bites I would be spending $140 a week on that food just for my one fish.......lol

my fish have been doing so well since I started using Roggers. Their colors are better and they are eating better overall.....I also feed thera A+ and Mysis in between roggers feedings but I feed Roggers like 3x per week.

Well here's my long winded answer to your post, and trust me its been a loooooong time since I've been feeding saltwater fish.

I understand your point of view, I don't like to overspend either but when it comes to my tank, I have invested enough money in fish and corals to feed them 60-70% dirty water not to mentioned than when you break it down by price per unit my choice is still better, that to me is a smart buy and I am all about that.

You say that the cost is important to you and I can understand how RRF may sound expensive when you break it down the RRF complete blend is a whooping $45.71/lb however, when you do the same comparison with other foods you will see that they are even more expensive specially when you take in cosideration the dirty water content which could be between 40-60%

I'll give you an example 150gr of new life spectrum thera-A is $17.99 MSRP that is $54.31/LB not to mention the list ingredients that I don't want to introduced to my tank.

Argent cyclop-ezze 30gr $13.40 MSRP that is $198/lb

An 8z package of PE mysis is $14.99 MSRP, that makes $29.98/lb right? wrong.....when you take all the dirty water that drains out when you thaw it you loose approx 40-60% in weight that increases the price per pound to $47.96/lb and you are feeding a fresh water shrimp that does not contain the right ratios of protein and amino acids need it by salt water fish to thrive.

Lets not even mention live black worms you cant even weight this ones and keeping them alive for feedings is a task I can't afford.

I can go on and on and at the end IMO RRF continues to be the best, the most practical and the cheapest of all foods in the market, you just need to be a smart shopper and not a hater.

And yes TRUST ME I'M A DOCTOR:bounce1:

And BTW yes I laugh always at posts that make absolutely no sense!

I broke it down for you---- makes you feel a lot smarter now does it!

You should have stayed at a hollyday inn.

Well here's my long winded answer to your post, you just need to be a smart shopper and not a hater.

Long winded answer yes, smarter shopper no, me being a hater on this issue not hardly. It wasn't me that originally posted and started boasting about drinking beer and bragging up a friends product while hating on my original post of what I feed......go back and refresh your memory ...see who did that, I only responded to your original post quoting my post....now if you truly want to get into a tit for tat on a nice company on a public board we can but keep in mind its only bad press for that company to continue doing so ..... I'm all for savings and that aint it for my setup so I will have to respectfully disagree.....

Bad press? Oh by all means please continue, I don't mind, there is no such thing as bad press.
Prices per unit is not a bad thing, I use it in the supermarket every time I shop. Matt, I don't mind at all that you don't use the food that I make, I do wish I could learn something that helps me improve the product out of this discussions, I hear that the price is your barrier and I understand, Manny does bring a valid good point, however, this is an issue that I have tried to resolve a few times unfortunately, I haven't been able to do so with out lowering the quality of the ingredients and that is something that I am not willing to do, my name goes into each package, :D
The best thing I can do is to show you how to do it your self, which I have done in a couple of occasions at our clubs meetings, but, if you like I will be happy to show you one on one. Let me know.

Ill stay out of the drama. But will say RRF is the cleanest food I have ever fed. Rods food is very "dirty" in the sense that it makes a big mess when feeding. Other frozen foods also have a dendancy to do this. GasMan calls this dirty water and he is very likely right.

Ive never done it but have heard reports of people testing that "dirty water" for phosphates and Nitrates and the results have been discouraging for those that strive for clean water.

Matt- your way is admiarable, and im sure works well for you, but remember you keep a tank that is heavy in fish load. Water parameters are not as big a concern as others that keep delicate corals and such.

When my phosphates JUST REACH the 0.06 level my corals let me know. So the cleaner the feeding the better in the long run.

Long story short. Rogger is a friend but I dont always feed his food (sorry Rogger). But I have to acknowledge that his food is the cleanest in the market regarding unwanted pollution, AND has all the necessary elements to keep fish healthy.

I do appreciate that Roger. I would love to be able to use just one food. I do make my own food with all the ingredients I listed sometimes and it works out good for my setup. Dont get me wrong either, if I had to chose just one food based on quality this would be the one. It just doesnt work for my setup with some of my fish pushing 16+ inches. I would have to separate him every time I fed them or there would be a lot of other hungry mouths not to mention I would be spending a small fortune just to feed one fish. I have been thinking of moving him and if I do this may be an option for me.

Eddie my phosphates 0, nitrates 0. I pre wash and rinse all foods.

Like monday night football CMON-MAN!

Really i guess we will agree to disagree but then again the posts make no sense, here's why.

If I recall selling a BK skimmer and boasting its quality over others is no different than what we are trying to discuss here QUALITY.

And yes I know exactly what goes into the food and made it myself several times,
BTW heavier and I mean heavier bioload tanks 1000k and above feed this mix, cause the breakdown is simply in the numbers.

But the again knowledge is aquired by experience and the ability to listen and learn, a concept I learned about 25 years agi when i started this elusive hobby.

Clearly not realted to food rinsing but to the excellent use of resources in this hobby like a denitrator.

I personally dont use the food but for no reason. Most likely will in the future. As for cost mix it up Rogger thanks! Im all about supporting the local....

Matt, I totally understand you, I use to have a pair of cross hatch triggers that ate like there was no tomorrow, I literally had to do a feed first just for them and even then they will still go after half of of the second feed intended for the other 40 fish!, I had to make a hard decision and remove them because no matter what you feed at that point the bio load was ridiculous, back them I didn't have my denitrifying unit and nitrates became an issue.

It definitely seems like Roggers is the best way to go with regards to quality unless you are able to make your own.

The one thing i haven't heard of is the black worms. I think i can get them from my LFS but aren't they usually for freshwater or am i thinking of something else?

My fish love live black worms. My wife just doesn't like the idea of me keeping them in the fridge.
