This is the abridged version of a post I have in the "new to hobby" section if anyone wants to try a stab at the unabridged version, I can use all the help I can get. I have recently purchased a Perfecto 28 gal. Euro (Bow) tank. The dimensions are 24 x 16.5(at center 12.5 at sides) x 18. I have emailed Perfecto and reveived a superfast response that the bottom and front are tempered. In regards to lighting I have a 175W MH with actinic pendant that I would put into a custom hood. I am very concerned with heat with using the MH. Would I be better off trying to sell the MH and getting 4 VHO's (18", 40 watts ea.) or 3 or 4 PC's (21" long and 55watts ea.)? Would either of VHO or PC provide the right intensity for a clam? I plan on using the existing ballast with the MH, where does everyone mount them? I am currently renting so drilling holes through walls and floors is not an option. Another problem witth lighting is the center brace in the Perfecto Tank. I have 3 options to solve this IMO: (1) leave center brace as is, (2) cut out and replace with a glass center brace (siliconed in), (3) construct a replacement out of acrylic and use nylon fasteners to secure it to the rim. If anyone has any additional ideas or could let me know how they would handle it in there tank, I'd appreciate it. I don't plan on keeping anything dificult in the tank in regards to coral. MAYBE a BTA and/or a Maxima or Marshall Island Squamosa if I get the nerve to, but after a year of setup at least. In regards to fish I will have a pair of T Percula Clowns, red sea mimic blenny, a six line or flasher wrasse. I know this is alot of questions and much of it if not all has been discussed in other threads but it seems every situation tend to be a little different. I literally have boxes of stuff that local LFS's have recommneded and is not being used. I have been out of the hobby for about ten years and quite a bit has changed. My 58 had a trickle filter, ozone with PS, and UV ( all in a box) . I have started reading quite a bit to 'get up to speed'. Any and all help will be appreciated.
