ORP probe storage solution

I am shipping my ORP probe to a buddy. What should I use for a storage solution? IIRC, Curt told me that regular saltwater is fine but I want to make sure first. I think there is also a solution you can make up with a ph calibration solutiong. I do have PH 7.00 and 10.00 laying aroud.

pH 4.0 calibration solution is the best for long term storage. If you are just storing the probe for a short time then salt water is OK.

If these probes are left out of a solution and get dried out, you basically ruin the probes correct?

It may indeed be ruined. If the junction and the electrolyte inside the probe are completely dry then the probe is definitely ruined. You can always try rehydrating by putting it in water for 24 hours and see if you get reasonable values.

I just bought a new ORP probe and when I took the cap off it was dry inside. However the inside center of the probe was 90%full. Is this prob still okay ? My orp dropped down to 188 with the new probe and was 412 before with the old prob ?

Help! I am turning my ozone of for now. BTW my unit is a AC orginal.

Thanks
Chris

Chris, how long has the new probe been installed? ORP probes are very touchy and can take several days to stabilize. Turning the 03 off for the time being was probably a pretty good idea.
