the sensor on my osmolator is working but I think the controller itself is broken. The pump turns on when the water level is low but the controller seems to be turning the pump off before it finishes filling up. The pump on indicator will be lit but the pump will be off. At first I thought the pump went bad so I replaced it but it still the same with a new pump. After a while the water low indicator comes on. If I unplug the controller and plug it back in it works again but after awhile it does it again(indicating pump on when it is not).

The cause of this is that the pump is drawing more current than the 5017 controller will allow, it has a safety to cut off the pump so the circuit board doesn't start acting erratically due to being starved for power. There are three possible fixes, first check that the terminals are clean and free of corrosion and the wires are not corroded, replace the terminals if necessary. Try a longer head run, higher head pressures reduce the pumps draw. If you are pumping to a sump, run the hose up to the tank or add a check valve or flow control valve to simulate the back pressure. You could send the controller in and we can raise the limit by a couple hundred milliamps. This is sometimes necessary with an older controller and a newer pump as the new pump has a double seal and due to the greater resistance draws more power.

My power supply has a voltage switch on it, It is currently on 12 should I lower it to 9?

That will also help, it lowers the mA demand of the pump but please check the contacts and possibly try a different hose routing.
