OT Any good shooting ranges in denver metro?

I have been going to the Green Mountain Family Shooting Center, but... There are many stupid people that jam their pistol/rifle and point it at everyone while they are trying to get the round out, and lots of "Gangstas" that shoot with the gun to the side and move all over.

Ide like to find a out door shooting range that I can shoot my 30-06 (it has a high powered scope so anything under 200yards it too easy to hit), I just bought a scope for my ar-15, so I am looking for something like 100+ yards.

thanks in advance!!!

you might want to give the range at cherry creek state park a try...they are completely outdoor and you have someone there monitoring at all times...but be careful. it can get pretty crowded come aug, sept and oct.

Where are you located? Sounds like you are on the west side of town if you are using GMFSC. The Golden Gun Club(formerly Watkins Gun Club) outside of Watkins has a 100-200 yd range and a 100-500yd range. Golden Gun Club All local ranges have 100 yd max ranges including the one at Cherry Creek Reservoir.

I believe there is one out by byers that has a 900 meter range and everything below too as well as skeet and pistol . I just cant remember the name of it .

Sorry I know thats not a lot of help .

Its not much for long rang shooting but we usually head up to lefthand canyon just north of boulder . You get to have fun shooting and wheeling up to the range . Once and a while there will be some "gangster" types but we usually run them off once we break out the m4's and the badges.

Sounds good guys!

yea m4 are sweet, Ive seen how a guy turned his ar-15 full auto with a folded piece of paper, it was a neat trick, he used tracer rounds and it was cool!

Ive been to cherry creek its expensive and strict *not a lot of fun*

Aroura is a lot more fun if you know a member to get in

There are several membership clubs around town depends on what you are wanting to do. Just to name a few, Aroura Gun club, Cherry Creek Gun Club (indoors and you have access 24/7 pistol and small bore) Clear Creek Gun Club, for the reach out a touch some one theres Buffelo Creek Gun Club and Colorado Rifle Club. With the last 3 they are abit of a drive (1-1.5 hour) but you have 600yrd + ranges. For public pistol ranges You have The Shootist (very white trash) Englewood Santa Fe and Dartmouth) and The Firing Line (Aroura) to name a few.

I hear 15th and market is a great place to get some practice in.....

No but really if your just looking for a place to go shoot theres plenty of places in the mountains. We go to private property in Salida but any national forest land is fair game, just be safe about it. Target shooting a 30-06 requires a bit more area than a handgun.

There is one south of 285 about an hour from town that is pretty good, better than the one up at Boulder IMO. You can drive your vehicle right up to there, pop your trunk and start shooting, can remember the specifics, but I can get the exact location from my nav, let me know if you guys want to know where it is.
