OT: Anyone else into micro rc helicopters?

GET OFF MY LAWN
I have had several small ones that were a blast but in general they just are not that precision to the point you can land them with ease and so forth.

Yesterday I picked up a syma s107 and WOW this baby works! The gyro stabilization is simply perfect! You can rotate it with what feels like robotic precision. You can basically pull off maneuvers you could not dream about with pico z's or any of the airhog versions. Plus it is built VERY well. I can spot land this thing on a bar stool over and over, that is how well it flys!

Another cool feature is that it is totally rebuild-able! All parts are available!

Here are some vids of the thing flying around that I found. They are quite accurate on how the unit performs out of the box. I only had to make very MINOR tweaks to make it fly to perfection.

Best fun I have had in a long time for around $35-$40

Do they break easy? My pops had one that was about 3-4 times the cost a few years ago and it had foam blades that were always breaking, like pretty much anytime you flew it. The blades were pricey to replace too.

The kids have crashed mine about 10 times. No breaks but I ordered extra blades & parts off ebay to keep it running just in case.

Good to hear, gonna get one as a late present for dad, except he lives on his sailboat, actually might not be a great idea for outside flying.

I'm getting me one though!

Sweet! I just showed the wfe...looks like this is going to be my next birthday or xmas present (just a bit late for fathers day)!

I just like the fact they are cheap. Even if you break it, you can rebuild it for dirt or buy a new one. I used to be into rc awd touring cars big time back in the late 90's and did very well racing so I know what sort of money is involved in "nicer toys" *LOL* I just do not care to get that involved financially anymore. Cheap things like this that work great make me happy!

I want one! I used to fly 3D RC planes (well all kinds of planes but I loved 3D). I've only had the cheap Havoc helis. I sold off all my RC stuff I have a simulator Aerofly Pro that I'll use a 7 channel transmitter with on my computer.

Looks like a cool toy. I have about four of the airhogs mini choppers sitting on my bookshelf in front of me :)

I can only ever get them to fly in loosely controlled circles and occasionally I
can get them to crash land in the general location I am trying to hit, lol.

Might have to hit Amazon so it'll be here when I get back in town :)
