I know there was a thread on this recently but can't remember thefinal verdict on where to get it.
Thinking I better get this now because it will be harder as the holidays approach. For my 11 year old. My understanding is the sports package is a must.
Appreciate the help.

The best place IMO to get WII is Target or Walmart. That is where I got mine and where I got it for 4 other friends. I was just in Target in Downer's Grove a few days ago and they had at least ten. The sports pak is a must!!!!!!!! You'll probably spend most of the time playing that. (At least I know I do) Paper Mario, Mario Party 8, and Zelda are all great games for kids.

We got ours off craiglsist this sring. If you factor in taxes it was like 20 some extra to get it the day my wife wnated it. Easy call. Sounds like there a little easier to come by now.

Sports rules! 4 player tennis is a riot. My wife loved Paper Mario. Im about 1/3 through metroid and so far impressed. Elebits is a good kids game as well.

I looked all over Chicagoland to no avail. When we were camping near Dixon, IL - went to Walmart and they had plenty.

Best Buy and go with the warrenty. Not for the system but because of the kids using it.

My experience on electronics in general with my daughter.

Fitz.

I got mine at Circuit City. Though, it seems as if they are readily avail. now. I'd pick up the phone or pop up a new screen and do a $ check. Walmart, Target, Meijer, Best Buy, etc.

Wii Play came with it and is a blast! Bowling is the families favorite. I just got carnival games but haven't played it yet..... I hear Zelda is amazing.

I got mine at Target... it's pretty hit or miss in finding one, but I think it's more than worth it. I've seen people on eBay selling it for only dollars more than you'd see them in stores, so looking around there might be worth the investment.

To be honest, you could very well find yourself playing it just as much as your kids, if not MORE than your kids.

The Wii gets plenty of attention from the wife and me... not to mention, people that come over to our house like to play it when they're visiting...

Bought two in the last 6 months off ebay sellers that were local and willing to meet in person. Paid $20 over retail on one and $35 over on the other. Well worth grabbing when I wanted and not having to make two dozen phone calls or drive all over. Sports is awesome. Bowling in addicting. The port over of REsident Evil was a lot of fun too.

The "Cooking Mama" game for the Wii is also a whole lot of fun... but the "Wii Sports" game that's included with the system gets the most play at my house. Well, that and the downloadable old school classics that I have on my Wii's hard drive.

been looking for one too, found one on walmart's website but was for 550. anyone know who got them in stock?

I got mine at Wal-Mart in Crystal Lake and regularly see them there. From what I understand, they get about 5 a week.

I hate it when I see websites out there that try force feeding you additional games/accessories with the Wii consoles that they sell... trust me, all people need for starters is the (regular) $250 bundle that ships complete with a controller and the "Wii Sports" game.

Well, you might need a couple more Wiimotes so everyone else can get into the fun, but other then that I agree, Wii Sports can keep people entertained for long periods of time!

Even buying additional controllers isn't necessary right away... you can take turns with the controller with a game like Wii Bowling or Wii Golf... but yeah, for any of the other three sports games on that disc you'd definitely need an additional controller.

If you buy additional controlers, buy Wii Play. Its $10 more (49.99 vs 39.99 for Wiimote), you get a game that is 7 or so mini-games and it comes with a contoller. Some of the games are better than others, but its worth the extra $10.

Mario Galaxy is less than a month away. That game is gonna rock!
