OT - Camping in April?

Thinking of taking the family camping when the kids are on Spring break. Any suggestions of a good dog friendly camp ground that is open in April? Doesn't have to be in CT....

Wife may veto the idea..she'll say it's toooooo cold to camp that early in the year.

Not sure about the dog part but rocky neck is a great place to camp and a one minute walk to the beach. With toilets and showers as well as fire pits.

It was a long time ago but I liked Wells State Park in MA because there's zero light pollution there (or was, 20 years ago.) On a clear night you can see like, every star. Seems like more stars than sky.

My absolute fav place to camp is Jamaica state park in East Jamaica VT. The camp ground is immaculately kept, clean showers and restrooms, great trails to hike. Theres also a really really nice waterfall you can hike to from the grounds or even drive to get to. Not sure when their season starts, it will def be cold up there in April so prob not a place to go that early in the season w a tent. But it is absolutely gorgeous up there!

We have a little camper (big enough to sleep in and too small to do much else in) so I'll be looking for electric hookups...or I have to get a couple new batteries so I can run the furnace for the weekend....I'm too old to tent camp.

usual setup:

I don't have to leave the backyard for a fire and beer.....

That said, maybe we should camp in the backyard and the wife can sleep inside! :bounce2:

That's what I did last summer! I wanted to see how my little boy woild do before we trekked out too far. He loved it, so we are ready to go now. Wifey = not pleased.

I hear that....

My wife enjoys "fair weather" camping. Not too cold, too hot, no rain, etc....

We used to be seasonal campers on Gardener Lake and had a much bigger camper so if the weather sucked we could just hang out on the deck or in the camper and play games...

No dogs at state grounds. Go to Nelson's family great place

Dont know about that rule to be honest every year we go at least 2 or 3 times to Salt Rock State Park in Sprague/Baltic...2 dogs per site....not the best but nice people dog friendly and decent area to take the dogs for a walk....the private camp sites are always better especially if u have a camper...in this state park all rvs sit in a field next to each other

I remember bringing our dog to Black Rock State Park all the time in CT. Is the no dog thing a recent change?
