So my wife was on her way home from work and saw something in the middle of the road and once she got close enough to get a good look she realized it was a ball python. She scooped it up out of the road and went door to door at all the houses around where she found it and nobody knew who's it was so she then called the police and got a hold of animal control and they said nobody has called in a missing python and they probably just got sick of it and dumped if outside to fend for itself but they would take it off of her hands if she didn't want it. She definitely didn't want a snake but she made the mistake of telling me about it before calling the police and I was already on the hunt for a cage, lol. I then proceeded to send her a link to a cage I found locally that would be perfect for it for a while and begged her to let me keep it until finally caved (sucker, lol). Well I ran out to get the cage while she was on her way home with it and am now the proud owner of a beautiful 3' ball python. This python has some of the most beautiful markings I have ever seen on one and I am so pumped to finally have another snake (she made me very rid of the last one about 13 years ago). Anyways here are some more pics of the snake and the cage.

I know a bunch of local club members who have snakes! Great rescue. [profanity] that somebody would do that though, but glad it worked out.

Congrats!

i am beginning to think that these two hobbies go hand in hand- my mother however will not let me get one- great job with the rescue

There was a 6' albino the DEEP just caught in Portland a couple few weeks ago. Someone let it loose. Luckily they were able to catch it and some wild life museum in MA came and picked it up.

I don't understand why anyone would do that. Craigslist someone would grab it. :(

Nice new addition!! I've been working on the wife about a snake for some time now.... She is holding strong.... I've always liked the Honduran Milksnakes, I like that deep red color. I also like the Blood Pythons but I've heard that they are hard to keep.... Anyways good job to your wife for rescuing the Snake and consenting to you keeping it. Way to go!!

Thanks all. I'm actually surprised she let me keep this one considering how adamant she was that I got rid of my last snake. But she actually seems to like this one too and I'm wondering of its a pity thing or not but either way I'll take it, lol

Seems to be a very tame snake. I dont think it was an accident your wife came across it. A gift from the heavens lol

Nice! It's lucky it was you and your wife that came across it. I just got another panther chameleon, no way the wife would go for a snake though.

I wasn't even with her when she found it so I was actually surprised she said something to me. I've tried to talk her I to letting me get a chameleon a few times with no luck so I definitely wasn't gonna let her get rid of the snake, lol

Good thing you guys found it before winter! Very cool story/find.

Definitely a good thing she went home that way.

I hear ya there Ron. Now I have 2 tanks, 11 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs (my daughters), a cat (also my daughter's), am X now a snake. Definitely a full house, lol

That's a very cool thing for you and your wife to do :)

I had to google it to see what it is all about and was amazed to read that it could live to 50 years old in captivity !!

Good luck.

It took Collin a while to convince me to be on board with the whole snake idea but now I love them. Very cool creatures. Congrats!

I'm glad you read that and not her or it would have been a definite no, lol

She still isn't overly excited about it and I'm not sure why because she had a 6' Burmese python the year before I met her and loved snakes enough for me to get her one on her first mothers day that we were together. She was all about them until she was pregnant with my daughter and me being an idiot threw my hand in the cage when it was it was about to shed and it bit me. It was completely my fault and I'm not sure if it was pregnant chick hormones or what but ever since then sge wants nothing to do with them.

lol....I can't see my wife grabbing a 3' snake off the road...I think she'd aim for it with the car.

Lol. She's an animal lover even if its not an animal she likes she wouldn't do that. She might think about it though, lmao
