I don't think slim plays any PS2 games. I bought it for the media ( internet/blue- ray/DVD/etc. ) will use the PS2 to play PS2 games. Played a regular DVD to make sure it works ok - and it looked great. Hooked it up to a new Sony HD800 receiver via HDMI and it was instant play. I have to try a Blue ray soon ( with out any of the kids home) and then it will be repackaged for Christmas.

I will confirm that its not backwards compatible, but to be honest I really hate throwback games. With the exception of the ones on the c-sea website...

Heck you can pickup a PS2 cheap nowadays and that way you can do both if you need to play older games.
