OT: PS3 slim

The new PS3's are out. The main difference is that are slim, 120g hard drive, and the price dropped to $299. Thats great for a gaming system with a built in bluray player. I was looking around and found if you go to sonystyle.com you can save $100. You have to get their credit card and order the ps3 for $299.99 but within 8 weeks they will credit the card $100. I bought one and after tax, with the $100 credit, it came to $219.50.

After you get appoved for the card they will give you the card number, expiration date, and ccv number on the back of the card. You use that info when you check out. I called them after the purchase and everything is correct.

Just a heads up.

great to know i was going to buy a ps3 when they come out sept1 now i can save 100 bucks thats awsome.bye bye 360 hello ps3.you would think at 37 i would stop playing games but i grew up on them can remeber playing jungle hunt at the lawson store when i was a kid.

My PS3 died for the second time a few weeks back and Sony wanted $150 AGAIN (out of warranty the first time as well) to replace/fix it. To make a long story short, my new Xbox 360 arrived from Amazon last night!

Thats a good deal on the PS3 for sure. If anything its a great Blu-ray player. I love my 360 for gaming though. Microsoft should announce their price cuts August 30th. Target is rumored to have 360 Elites with a free controler for $299.

Why did you get a new PS3 Zack?

I have the one in the basement but wanted a bluray upstairs. So for that price it was worth having the gaming system as well.

I got my Arcade off Amazon for $180 shipped. I think Dell has a similar deal gong on. The Elites are confirmed at $299 and the Pro is on sale this week at Target for $250+free wireless controller.

Either way its a good time to buy something!

Got thru and have new credit account - but mine came to like $375 with the remote and one additional controller. SO, about 275 if, when I get the $100 back.

Have done some research and emailed SONY due to some language that may be misleading- it looks like the $100 off is the "sale price" of $299. I am not sure you going to get an additional $100 credited to your account. Apparently when you fill out the credit car info , get approved , and then click the link to shop it shows the $299 PS3 price which is an instant $100 off. If you don't go through the credit card link the price is $399. LET me know if you feel I am incorrect - call me paranoid but I want to be sure.

Paranoid ;)

299 isnt a sale price, its new msrp

Yep - just ordered over the phone - and with state tax for above setup it came to $405 before the credit. Pa tax=26 bucks - gotta love the governor !! Thanks- it will be under the Christmas tree this year.

well- i got my new Sony/Chase visa card in the mail and activated it- then on the next day I still haven't got the PS3 - so I look in my Sony account and the order was canceled- Hmmm.... "paranoid" - Maybe not. Aerius007 - did you receive your new PS3? or did this happen to you also? I definitely did not cancel the order and I also purchased a new Sony receiver to go with the PS3 and at that time I could not use the new account again because they only allow one purchase prior to actually getting the card in the mail and activating it - I had to use an existing credit card. - SO I emailed ( cant actually talk to a person you know) and asked Sony why the order was canceled- will let you know what they say. Maybe Sony is just fronting a way to get people to apply and get a credit card from Chase.

ley me know what happens i should get my card next week i hope this thing is not a scam to get a sony chase card now thinking to pay the extra 100 dollors and use my normal card.and if ya buy from best buy ya get 10 dollors for every 100 spent so i would get 30 dollors toward a new came.i can look at it that way .

OK, this is one paranoid group of people. I followed the directions to a T, got my confirmation number on the order, called after I placed to the order to make sure Ill get a $100 credit and all is good.

BTW, my ps3 slim came in last Tuesday and is great. This isnt Sony trying to scam you into a credit credit card. I also have two other friends that did this with no issues.

I emailed, cant talk to anybody

I talked with somebody from the Sony website 2 minutes after ordering.

Yep I confirmed everything before ( see above) and even ordered another product on the phone and he confirmed the ps3 was ordered so I could not use the new card yet.. BUT now the PS3 order is canceled. Hmmm... maybe it is a "just my luck" thing. All I know is something or someone canceled my PS3 order the day after I activated my new credit card. I have a confirmation they received my Email. WE will see....

OK - just got off the phone- They admitted they screwed up and gave me upgraded shipping on the re-order- YEA.... Now it is up to Chase VISA to get the $100 credit as promised. LIKE I said - "Murphy's law" usually happens to me... So "call me Paranoid" seems to fit.
