When I was younger I had a savannah monitor, that guy was cool, he looks like a miniature komoto dragon. He had a fork tongue and would swallow mice whole, they eat rats when they get older. You could potty train them and they'll sit on your shoulder if you handle them often.
The cham in my avatar typically don't like being handled but he loved the wife and would try to climb on her when ever she was at the cage and would drink water and eat crickets right from her. They have a prehensile tail, sling-shot tongue, they almost have thumbs to grasp branches, and their eyes can see in two different directions at the same time. They have a slow methodical movement but can be pretty swift when hunting. Oh yeah and he was blue, I love these guys.
