OT: Time Warner Roadrunner

I've noticed that the Internet has been painfully slow at our house the past couple of days, so decided to run a speed test.

This totally sucks. Any ideas why this may be? Anyone experiencing something similar?

I'm not paying for the "extra" high speed connection that they offer. Could it be they're choking the throttle back on us cheap SOB's? Is it even possible for them to do that?

I've had some serious issues with lag spikes myself last week or so. Normal speed seems ok, but then once every half hour or so my connection slows down to an absolute crawl for a few minutes, like I was back on dialup. Very frustrating.

Same thing here, especially trying to get onto this site. We are also Time Warner in Rochester.

wow, in the stny segment I think they made a booboo with setting up new equipment at their offices. It appears there are no bandwidth limits currently. my buddy sent me a picture the other day of a speedtest netting him 20mb down and 1mb up.

I have heard a lott of people say their speeds stink since the turbo came out here is mine and I have the turbo

I just got off the phone and got it resolved. A simple reset of my modem and my router took care of it.

I probably should have thought to do that on my own...

Let me start by saying I HATE TIME WARNER ROAD RUNNER!!!! It used to go down all the time, for hours, even days at a time. But guess what, my bill was always the same whether I could use it or not. If I needed help, I had to lug the modem down to the city OR wait for 3 more weeks for the service guy to come. All with out ever getting an explaination.

Switched to FiOS 2 years ago. ZERO ZERO ZERO problems!!!!! TTWRR ads talk about contracts and service blah blah blah. You don't need to worry about it because IT WORKS!!!! more than I can say for TWRR.

Sorry for the sort of OT rant

WHEN WILL FIOS COME TO THE ROCH?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'll be the first in line to drink the Kool-Aid when they get here.

I'd jump on FiOS in a heartbeat if it was available. No clue how long it'll be for my area.

Thought I'd see if there was a difference after a reset.

This is a good day. Lately, DL has been 1/4 that.

I would jump to FiOS in a heartbeat if it were available in Rochester. The upload speed is just so horrible on Road Runner. I tried to run my own web server for a personal website.... yeah, kinda impossible, and I'm not going to pay for turbo

haha you could look out your window and look at your broken cable wire flapping in the wind and those morons on the phone will tell you..It's your router please turn it off for 5 min and see how that works

I wish I could vet FiOS in my area, unfortunately that haven't run fiber our way yet. Although I can't complain about my Roadrunner. In the 3 years I've had it at the new house it has gone down once and I blame that on the October storm. :D

Here are my test results and I don't pay for the "extra" high speed connection.

Wish like hell fiOs was available, but because I live in the "city" they have not approved it.

Is this good/bad/average? I'm a newb when it comes to IT stuff.

Roadrunner turbo. It is being tested through a hardware firewall with 256 bit encryption and windows firewall.
