OT: Underwater camera recommendations.....

My wife and I are going on a Western Carribean Cruise at the end of November. We have a couple of snorkeling trips planned, and we also plan to swim with dolphins. Awesome! :D

Anyways, last time I snorkled in Maui, I used one of the disposable underwater cameras, and pretty much....those suck!

Anyone have any recommendations for an underwater camera that isn't too pricey (around a couple three hundred dollars tops), but would allow me to take some nice underwater ocean pics? I really want to come back from this vacation with awesome pics! :D

I don't know what type of camera you have now, but I know a couple of companies, atleast Sony, make waterproof cases that will allow you to use your camera underwater. If you already have a camera, I would check with the manufacturer to see if they make a waterproof case! They can still be fairly pricey $150+ but probably less than a new camera.

That's a good idea! I didn't think of that. I have a fujifilm 4.1 megapixel camera right now. I'll have to look into that!

Not sure how much you want to spend, but it was recommended by my dive master to get any cannon. She used this one and the shots came out better than people with thousands spent on equipment.

She said her ELPH was the best. the case is an accessory here..
.Waterproof case.
Good for that and a few other cameras.
B&H is a good company for this sort of thing. I just ordered this set up for my honeymoon and next day shipping with UPS was only $35.00 extra so you can pm me and ask how it is tomorrow. Same day process and shipped. I just got the e-mail conformation that it will be here tomorrow. I hope UPS can handle it/ :)
So complete setup for under 350, I had some really poor reviews with the underwater cameras and wad told that the case is the way to go for cheep.
Hope this helps.

I've got a sea&sea, with strobe. Takes amazing photos up to about 100' deep. I used it on scuba trips till I bought the underwater digital video camera....I'd look into sea&sea....for snorkeling it'll take amazing shots!

I have an Olympus 720 SW that is waterproof to like 20 feet. It is about as big as a deck of cards. I think it was less than $300, but I got it as a gift so I don't know exactly. My brother got the new model and I think that his goes to about 30 feet. I really like it because it is so versatile. It would work great for snorkeling but I wouldn't use it for diving.
