I have been looking ALL OVER for one. Last night... I finally found one! I came home from work, and there it was, sitting on the dining table... an early anniversary gift from my wife! ;)

I am SOOOOO stoked! I only have the wii sports package games now... but am already looking for new games to buy. I am pretty happy with it so far... from what I can see, this thing is a really fun diversion! One thing I want to find out is if I can play all of my current nes roms on the virtual console? I have a crapload of nintendo, genesis, etc roms on my computer... is there any way they can be played on the wii?

Lucky bastard. Heard the wii's been cracked in Asia, so there probably is a way to get those ROM's onto it. I'll pm you if I find the link.

lol. i kno. I was shocked... I dont know how the wife pulled it off. PLEASE send me the link if you find it! Even if I cant use my roms, the NES games only cost like $5 do download... in fact maybe even less than that.

Lowbudget, what games to you reccommend? I think I will pick up warioware... I have heard that is a really random and fun game. I may also get Metal Slug: Anthology. :)

Nice! I'd like one myself, especially since I just picked up a nice HDTV the other day, but they sure are tough suckers to find. I'm waiting on the HDMI Xbox360 to come out before I get one of those.

i love mine too.
my gf got me one for valentine's day.
We have Wii parties w/my buddies. haha

what's cool is that anyone can play, even my parents play it.

I was thinking about getting a Wii for my wife because she likes to play the old nintendo games like the original Super Mario Bros, etc.

Someone had said that you could play the old games on the Wiis. Is that true? Is there a game pack you can buy or is that what you're talking about with the ROMs? If it can only be done with Roms, where do you get those?

Thanks!

There is a wifi connection built into the wii, and there is a online shop that you can browse to from which you can buy and download classic cames (nes, snes, genesis, n64, etc). It is pretty awesome. I am wondering if I can use the old nes games that I already have on my pc (roms) instead of buying them. I will prolly just buy em though, since the roms that I have arent always GREAT quality... and the versions of the old games that you can buy through the wii have in some cases been "remastered"... they have gone in and improved the graphics, sound, and frame rate, etc... ;P

Depends on the original system. I think NES games are like $2, Super NES and Genesis are $4... and N64 games are like $15.... also you can play gamecube discs on the wiil :)

I am ordering Excite Truck and Warioware today.

There is a chip for it that allows you to play backups + nes + snes + genesis + tg16, etc games. I think it costs about 30 bucks for the chip, but gotta remember you need to own the originals ;)

If I get the chip, does that null the warranty? I know with the PSP had some hacks could do, but you ran the risk of breaking the PSP. :(

I think I will just buy the games.... :)

my wife got it at BEST BUY! One of the employees told her that they were getting a shipment of 2 in the next day... so she went and waited in line at 5 in the morning! She had it since early January! Just suprised me with it last night. I saw the receipt... couldnt believe she managed to get one! :o

That's really neat!

We own a lot of the original Nintendo games. How do I get them onto the Wii from the NES cartridge?

It sucks having to blow on the cartridges, bang them against your hand, and wiggle the cartridge around inside the system anytime you want to play SMB, Ice Hockey, Ikari Warriors, Contra etc. :( We don't play all of the time, but it is still fun to play every once in a while. :)

u gotta download the games. the wii has "channels" when you turn it on. you buy points from gamestop, etc... and those can be applied towards purchases that you make thru your wii. I havent bought anything yet... i will try tomorrow or tonight, and will post details on my experience once i do it! :)

I've been looking 4 Wii everywhere in recent days. No one has it. no best buy, no game stop, no Circuit city. I end up buying PS3 lol
