I tested all my equipments before I sell them because it would be a waste of my time to list something and have people come to my house to buy it only to find that it is not working.

I sold a chiller to one of the guy and this guy came across to me as one of the dealer wheeler guy but hey I am selling to make room in my garage. I sold the JBJ 1/5 chiller for $280. The guy didn't check for it and since I knew it was in working condition so I didn't bother to tell him. A week later, he called me and told me it's not working, i.e., it would not power on and ask for a refund. I clearly listed that all item are sold as final.

A couple hundred buck is not a big amount of money to me but I have a feeling that either he swap out something or did something that shorted the power. I offer to refund the guy $100 back so that he can fix the chiller but he kept asking for another $40 more, ie., $140 refund.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Ask him to return the $280 and take the chiller back. When you get it back, spray dilute chlorox to kill any virus. He could be bluffing.

Or maybe he messed it up and now it's a big paperweight. I think the OP offering a $100 discount is more than fair. Heck he already got a discount on the original listed price. I rarely sell stuff and my pet peeve is when someone says they want to buy something, spends 30 minutes chatting and looking at the item then wants to knock $40 off the price.

I would tell him to pound sand after not agreeing to a $100 refund on the discounted price for an item you KNEW worked before you sold it.

I offered the guy to bring it back for the full refund, the guy finally told me that he took it a part bla bla bla and the fuse got lose and he now fixed i. He then asked me to send $10 via Paypal for his time to fix it.

This guy was surely a scam artist. He should have taken my original offer to give him a $100 refund so that he can bring it to a shop to fix it.

Thanks all for your input!

Glad it worked out! 90% of the buyers here are awesome but that other 10%, ugggghhhhhh...

It WAS the fuse :) lol...…

...why did he ask for $10 when he was the one who messed it up in the first place? sheesh.

He disassembled it, now it's on him. As a buyer, I would always test it out before buying a second hand item.

I don't think he did anything because I am certain that it works. I think he just BS and tries to cons his sellers (me in this case) to give him some money back.

This is an expensive hobby, we all try to get the best deal that we can get but to cons and then nickel and dime, i.e., $10 after making the purchase is just unbelievable...

To alot of people being able to squeeze a few extra bucks out is an ego thing. They feel like savvy business men and there are no moral values that can't be dismissed as a business deal.
