over extended mantle on crocea?

i recently brought home a 2" crocea from the lfs (it was mis-identified to me as a maxima). anyhow, it sits on a rock 8" below the surface directly under my mh which is about 7" above the surface. the mantle seems to me to be very extended over the shell and not at all close to the shell as in the majority of the crocea pics online. is it needing more light? also, more background on it's color....overall a dark purple tone with blue/tourquois irridescent spots seen from above but very drab brown when you look at it from the front of the tank. i wish i had a pic to give you all but i don't. it responds very quickly to movement and shadow. i'd love to hear what you all think.

It sounds to me like you have plenty of light. It is my opinion that most clams under 3" need to be fed DT;s phytoplankton. This will help your clam and most everything in the tank. Most clams also look much better from the top. Everything sounds good. If it is responding well to shadows, I think you are in good shape. But you may want to research DT's phyto, it will help. Best of luck, Rob
