Overflow box HELP!

New 125g ST, Pump Rio HF 17, 2 overflows (1 at each end and I added a 3rd early this morning), 30g L sump/fuge.

One of the overflows (backside) is constantly rising and falling. When it does this, it makes a flushing, slurpy noise. When I added the third overflow this morning at 1 am, all was quiet. Woke up later this morning
and one is flushing again.

Also, I've forgotten how to adjust the inside of the box for less water in the ST and more in the sump. Right now, all three are as high as they can go. That's how I finally got the noise stopped this morning. In the midst of adjusting, I had a small overflow of the tank, so I'm afraid to touch anything right now (especially with my hubby home). He goes berserk when I have a spillage (you'd think he'd be used to it by now) ;-)

Thanks for HELP!

The overflows flush because the water can't drain fast enough so it fills up until it starts a siphon. Is there an air valve on the overflow? If so try cleaning it out.

When I pull the filter sponge out, the water is flowing out fine. But it still rises and falls. No air valve and everything is brand new.

Thanks,

Also, I checked the flow rate from each of the hoses and it's pretty close to the same on all 3.

These are your old standard overflow boxes. Not drilled, if that makes any difference.
