OVERFLOW box

hey everyone i am setting up my second tank currently with my first fuge. i have purchased an overflow and am using a rio 2500 as my return pump/ closed loop. I want to know the best ways to prevent the floor from have 55 gallons work of water on them. Any tips or trick on the set up. Also i remember reading something a while ago about using the the venturi line from a powerhead in the u tube to help keep suction will this work or not.

I use aqualifter pumps on mine just as a backup.
