k guys i need a little help..i recently upgraded to a 75 gal..i want to set a sump in my stand .. i need an overflow box for my tank but i don't know which one or what size to use. i've been looking at a couple of them. should i use a 300gph a 600gph or a 1200gph. i know i will have to use a pump with this flow rate but which one is better and why?. oh and what size sump is best for my new tank..thanx in advanced..

Well you have a 75 gallon tank. You want around 3 to 5 times tank volume through your sump. I think that I would go with the 600 gallon/hr.

id go 600gph minimum. The overflow will only overflow the same level that is being pumped/returned to the tank. Make sure you dont get a pump thats rated higher than the overflow or you'll have "overflow" all over your floor.

Example: 600gph overflow box w/ a mag5 (500gph give or take) will work perfectly.

Use a LifeReef 600g model. They are just about bulletproof and you only need about 200g/h flow to make them function with no air bubbles in the tube. I personally use one with about 345g flow I havn't had to restart my u-tube in 3 months and I turn off the pumps almost nightly for feeding.
